The real authentic Indian cuisine can only be felt at the traditional households and the food stalls at the backstreets of this Asian nation. The following passage gives you an idea about five famous and ‘must try’ Indian snacks.

Chaat – The northern region of India boasts of the delicious chaat preparations that can be taken as snacks as well as a whole meal. Let’s see the preparation of this tangy, spicy Indian chaat.
1.    Deep fry the diced potatoes in oil and drain.
2.    Toss the fried potatoes with powders such as cumin, chili and chaat masala. Tamarind and mint chutneys can be used to coat the dish.
Serve with chopped coriander leaves, lemon juice and chopped onion.

Another popular north Indian food icon is Aloo Tikki, which is a delicious crunchy snack. The stuffing is made of boiled and mashed peas with other veggies. The potato which is mashed makes the base along with seasoning of salt and pepper. Balls are made out of it after stuffing and deep fried in oil. The end product is served with spicy chutneys.

Every part of India has its own special food. Pav comes from western side of the country and is usually known as street bread and is made of dough kneaded with sugar, yeast, salt and butter. The pav is consumed with bhajhis or a potato dish.

Hara Bhara Kebab
1.    Grate potatoes after boiling. Boil peas too.
2.    Make green chili – ginger paste. Mince the coriander too.
3.    Toast cumin seeds in oil.
4.    Sauté the ingredients in step 1 and 2 along with salt and powdered black pepper.
5.    Add them to potato mix and make 5 inch long logs and shallow fry them in a pan.

Indians have a simple, delicious and healthy drink that can quench the thirst in its hot weathers- Banana Lassi. Lassi is made by blending ripe banana, plain yogurt and sugar in a blender. The drink is better when served chilled.
