Scott Young has written in simple lesson by lesson format just how to make a great batch of homemade wine easily. If you follow each lesson carefully in his Delicious Wine Making Made Easy, you will most certainly be successful.
Scott is a confident and experienced home winemaker and shares his experience with you. I was impressed with his writing and organizational capabilities. His book is carefully laid out in 15 easy to follow lessons.
Chapter one contains your first three lessons. In lesson one you are given detailed information for gathering and purchasing just the right equipment to guarantee a great batch of wine. In lesson two Scott fills you in on some “common sense” tips such as:
• Finding the best place to make and store your wine.
• Having all of your supplies together.
• Giving yourself enough time.
• Having a bucket of sanitizer ready as you need to place items into it.
• Having a chair or a stool handy.
• Having a stool, counter or table to set items on.
• The importance of strictly following instructions.
• Clean up your mess.
• The two ultimate determining success factors for your wine.
Scott reviews several types of wine making products in lesson three, given you his recommendation and suggestions.
Each lesson builds on the previous one, it is imperative not to skip any. The final chapter holds lessons 11-15 which provide suggestions on how to improve or upgrade your recipes and methods.
The icing on the cake is the appendices. These include more great ideas for tasting and presenting your final product.
I am excited to have this book available at my fingertips as a reference guide for product tips, for recipe ideas and for trouble shooting when I run into problems. Using this book practically guarantees making a great bottle of home made wine a success.
There is another great wine making book currently available that I would like to also mention the Illustrated Guide to Homemade Wine is an exceptional book and is recommended reading as a wine making reference manual.
